Concert with Afro-Latin Band Radio Café - Central Library
Event Details
The community is invited to a showcase of Afro-Latin music and culture in an afternoon with Latin music vibes with Radio Café, a musical trio specializing in Afro-Peruvian music, Cumbia and Son.
Radio Café’s sound brings together an electric guitar with its rocking groove, a Peruvian cajon with its vibrant wood sound and a tuba taken from the context of symphony orchestras to add versatility to its bass sound. Radio Café features Pierr Padilla on the cajon, percussion, poetry, and Afro-Peruvian Zapateo; Camilo Landau on the guitar and voice; and Luke Kirley on the tuba (helicon) and percussion.
After that concert there will be a bilingual Spanish/English conversation with the musicians on Afro-Latino culture, diaspora, history, and more.
Social distancing and facemask required and enforced. Seats will be reserved for those who register in advance. Please arrive by 5:20 pm or your seat may be released. The event will be livestreamed and recorded for later distribution for those who can’t be present.

El sonido de Radio Café trae una guitarra eléctrica con su groove rocking, un cajón peruano con su vibrante sonido de madera y una tuba tomada del contexto de las orquestas sinfónicas para agregar versatilidad a su sonido de bajo. Después de ese concierto habrá una conversación bilingüe español / inglés con los músicos sobre la cultura afrolatina, diáspora, historia y más.
Se requiere y se hará cumplir con el distanciamiento social y uso de mascarilla. Los asientos estarán reservados para quienes se registren con anticipación. Llegue antes de las 5:20 pm o su asiento puede ser puesto a disposición de alguien más. El evento se transmitirá en vivo y se grabará para una futura difusión para aquellos que no puedan estar presentes.
